Sorry For the Delay....I've taken a different approach on my book now. Instead of doing graffiti or landmarks, I thought that it would be cool to photograph things that surround us everyday. With these objects, I plan to create motivational words such as the 3rd picture. Please give feedback on the layouts for the cover and 2nd picture. I will also use different methods of photographing these words besides using things in me and my friends home and backyard.
I hope you'll like the idea and I hope you'll are enjoying your summer.
Karmeshia "Red" Easley
I wasn't in class when you'll set up the lulu accounts so I may need help with the layouts.

Karmeshia,
I love the idea of forming words with objects around you. It is awesome, creative and fun. My only hang up is choosing inspirational words. There is already a market for that. What is YOUR message! You can tell us anything you want with the words you create. I urge you to write, and or look at the objects that you are photographing and think of what words they remind you of. (i.e. spell the word "burn" out of matches, paper and wood).
You have an outrageous personality! I want to see that in the words that you create. I cannot speak for everyone, but for me, inspirational words are just words when out of context of a magical moment. I go other places for spiritual motivation. I look to art to be provoked and challenged, to laugh and think hard about the world and beauty. So that is my two cents. See what the rest of your classmates feel.
Karmeshia,
The inspirational words are nice, your concept overall is pretty cool. Inspirational and only inspirational, I feel makes it a little too
Hallmark -y.
I would also like to see you experiment with more fonts for the cover. Once you take more photos, and if and when you decide to move into other words, see what font will best convey your intent.
I feel like the text you have now, like Karen's, is a little too motivational poster like, and while that's not a bad thing, I know you can take it further and tweak it to truly make it your own.
I can't wait to see more,
Sam
Karmeshia,
I like this concept a lot more than your previous one. However, I also feel like you could do more than the cliché inspirational words. The materials you used to form the letters are very nice and they honestly speak more to me than the actual word love. I would see if you can get an even border around the words or take out the border completely. Experiment with different text for your cover and content. I agree with Sam about it looking a bit hallmark-y. Keep working. Play with this idea and see what else you can spawn from it.

I like the idea of using photos to create words. Much more challenging since you will have several final photos for each "page". I am interested to see you use objects that reflect you to create these words you feel so strongly about. Overall ... great idea.

I like your new idea, I think it's creative, I also think you should use your imagination a lot more in finding the objects and their relationship with the words. The only way this theme would come across nicely is if it's very well thought out, so try to do lots of planning for each image, and then shoot.

I believe this idea is creative and interesting, though I agree you should stray away from the inspirational words . The title page and statement looks a bit too "powerpoint" as well. Other than that, I believe this will be great!
Hi Karmeshia,
I like the concept, but I must agree with the majority in that the inspirational word thing has been done. I saw inspirational word photographs for sale in a shop at the Warf just the other day. Thankfully, the English language offers a ton of options.
For your cover, I would love to see your book name spelled out with photographs. Perhaps you could shorten the title to "Picture the Word(s)"
As far as the statement goes, I too have some work to do regarding font selection. I'm sure you will find something more in tune with the photographs.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Karen
