Andrew-
The title of your book and the photo on page one is nice. I like the fact that you have a negative border around your photos. I am wondering how you are going to address all these issues in your book . I think you might have to narrow it down?
Ok so you're going to take pictures of urban settings and tinker with them in photoshop? I think I was expecting really bold pictures. Possibly just pixels creating buildings. Also, isn't that in pensacola instead of one of the 4 cities you listed? This idea would be incredibly hard for me to pull off. I would like to see more pictures. Are you going to have text with each picture? Keep going this could be beautiful and moving.

Hi Andrew,
I had the same response as Jess and Jessica.
I like the title and the font. I do not mind that the cover image is abstract, but I am not sure what it is or what it has to do with the content. Clarify for us.
Also, I understood you to mean that you intended to pixellate the landscape--right now they look affected with filters instead---and I am not sure what that will do conceptually.
Check out this guys sculpture-- I think your two are on the same track.

Be careful with those filters--choose the appropriate one and you are golden! JUST Like Film editing!
I think you have the right intentions but are coming up short in execution. They don't look pixelated, it just looks like a bad photoshop filter. I can show you how to pixelate something really easily though. Let's get in the lab and I'll show you what I mean.
So, I am in Pascagoula right now and I (oddly enough) thought about your project. The idea of Urban decay makes me think of cities that have fallen apart. This place was in decay long before katrina. You might want to think about visiting places that had booming economies but are now pretty dead. I dunno, it's another idea.

Andrew,
The cover is nice -- I like your choice in font.
The statement, I feel, may confuse those as to what they think they're getting into. You name these four cities but do not necessarily allude to the metropolises in your work.
I also thought you were going in a different direction with the manipulation of the images. I thought you meant pixels as they are defined. They are a unit of measurement, bricks in the architecture of image. I thought that would be more prevalent in your images, the filters aren't doing the image or your concept justice.
Keep on keepin' on!
Sam
Andrew,
I dig the cover, but I’m not so crazy about the filter you’ve used for the landscape, either. I think that I was also expecting you to create urban landscapes using pixels. I think where you’ve started your sketch is nice, but I know you can really produce something better than nice. Play with the statement a little bit and the words could piece the pictures together. Right now it’s just a bit all over the place, so I’m having a hard time grasping what your true purpose is in this book. Keep that brain of yours going and see what you can do to make everything cohesive.

I think everything is working except the filter. I would love to see the images pixellated like you had originally planned, and also a shorter statement, because I don't think any viewer would take the time to read all of this. So let's see how everything looks then, yes?

Will you be traveling to all of these cities over the rest of the summer? If not, how will you bring us to those cities through your photos?
Hi Andrew,
I like your cover. What is the object in the original photograph?
Regarding your statement page, the font is cool, very retro futuristic. I had a hard time with the actual statement. Is it meant to be a definition of Digital Erosion Urban Explosion? I agree with others regarding the locations listed. Will you actually be shooting on location or will you be mimicking these locations via pixellation? I think the list paragraph at the bottom takes away from the first part of the statement. Also, if you take out the word pixels, you take away the limits on your choices of digital erosion.
As for your first page, I think you could do a better job with your erosion technique.
I know that your book will polish up nicely.
Have a great weekend,
Karen
I think that the cover and the font compliments your idea very well As far as the pictures go, I would like to see how far in depth you can actually take this. The filters probably take away from the actual shots that youre taking so try not to use them as much.

I love the second cover by far. For your statement, I think that it can be altered a little bit. Your idea is very neat and I think that you have the eye for photographing great pictures. Keep up the good work.

I like all three covers that you have, but I am feeling the second one the most. As far as your living room- Will you be arranging it and adding people and objects or only photographing the same thing in a different area. I think that adding objects and people makes it more enjoying and interesting. Other than that, I think that you have a great idea.

It's very hard to choose which one I like the best because they all seem to fit the concept of your book. I agree with the white balance on some of the pics bc they are great pics to turn down. I also like the first page layout. I think that you should go with the one without text since you using the definition on another.
