Jeannine's Book Sketch
The concept behind my book is simple. In a mundane world of dark streets and construction signs, there's something greater, something technicolor. I'm documenting this same world, the way I see it- in exaggerated color, light, and motion- through the sounds of pure trance music. This is the style of photography you will see throughout TRANCEPORT.

It's the perpetual feeling of a drive-by rave. I'm here to take you along for the ride.

Hi Jeannine,
I love the name. Will you be driving by areas with neon signs as well? I noticed that you stated they are unedited. Will you be defining them or blurring them or both? Will people appear? Don’t worry, there won’t be a full 20 questions. I’d love to see a variety of whatever area you are focusing on. Are you staying in Pensacola with these pictures or travelling? Alright, ‘nuff with the questions. I’m looking forward to seeing more.
Wishing you happy thoughts;)

These images look beautiful.
You are going to have to work hard to distinguish this series of night shots from the plethora that exist in the world. Really start hammering out how you can make us HEAR that rave--how do you create a visual beat, a pulse. What does music look like? Put them in photoshop and combine them into bars and notes? Look at sheet music? What does rave music look like on an equalizer? You are going to have to research and experiment with the layout to take us on your journey. Otherwise, they will just be pretty blinky pictures, and while that is alright--it is not what you want.
Above was Val.
You still in SF?

hahah I love your little into paragraph!
you might want to keep track of the road you're on when you take pictures. possible juxtaposition night and day. just to see how that looks. I dunno!

Jeannine-
Cool idea. I really think the images will benefit from having earphones next to your book (like we talked about in class). I believe this will truly add the feel of your photos that you are looking for because trance music can really get your heart pumping. It's pretty trippy and I'm into that.

Jeannine,
Your photos speak for themselves ...wonderful! The colors are catching and the mystery is there.

Hi Jeannine,
I understand it's called "tranceport" but hows about you stay stationary for a break in the middle of the book and let the lights do the traveling? (i.e. setting your camera down by a road and employing a slow shutter speed) Or it could be during a buildup in one of the trance songs. I dunno! the images look right on though.
Sam!

These are lovely images and your description goes well with them,
I would love to hear some music to go with it as well, I don't know how, it's just a thought, think about it

The only reason I don't particularly like the idea of incorporating a CD, in addition to the book, is because it might be a little too spoon-fed. I might just create a piece that gives credit to all of the artists that inspired me to make this project and put it toward the end of the book. What do you guys think about that? If someone was truely interested in the music, they'd be able to look it up anyway, you know?
I think that could work
may be even make a blog just for that, and give us the adress to it or something so we wouldn't forget all the artists names, yes???
Rezvan
or give us the adress after we have seen the book, but incorporate the music in the blog, so then we'll go home and look that up,
how's this?
Rezvan
I'll think about it.
I think the idea is great. I'm all about synesthesia and color/sound association and I'm really excited whenever someone starts exploring this concept. However, as others have said, you will have to manipulate these images or do something to distinguish the series of a billion other photographs that look just like it. I actually think a kaleidescope affect set on these type of photos would be unlike anything I've seen before and the symmetry provided in a manipulatable kaleidescope affect would heighten the sense of trance and the 4/4 mechanical timing that the music is so reliant on. I can show you how to do it if you like the idea.
I have always been extremely fascinated with light play, and am looking forward to
experiencing "TRANCEPORT".
