For my book I will take natural textures and contrast them with man made textures. The textures will have rich, full colors and will fill the entire page. I want the images to have a emotional quality rather than a straight on texture on texture quality.
- Another idea I have for the book is to take lots of crazy pictures of eyes, but not quite sure how to elaborate. I thought about telling a story behind the eyes, but maybe that's too corny. I guess it just depends on how its represented. Any thoughts?

Hi Jessica,
I love the colors in this photo. The concept is intriguing. I really like the bark against the faux fur as well as the deep dye color against such a natural background. I wish I could see the texture of the fur more clearly. There’s sensuality about this image that I’m enjoying. It’s definitely captivating. I’m looking forward to seeing more.
Enjoy!

Go with the colors. Take as many things as possible and see what works best. Try a water picture with something bright floating in it. Try as many different angles as possible for each image. You never know what you might get. Digital photography has a lot of possibilities with this!

Jessica,
Are these colors going to have some relation or pattern? That might be an interesting idea. Think about every part of the photo. Every texture and how it interacts with the manmade object, do they clash, get along or just sit together.

Jessica,
Your first idea seems well thought out and I’m definitely more partial to it than the eye idea you’ve been toying with. You could really bring these textures to life on a greater level beyond their actual role as textures. If you really want the emotional quality to be there, it could sort of be like the feeling within the ‘feeling’ of a texture. What I’m trying to say really is that if you kind of think of your textures (in this case, the bark and the faux fur) as humans, what kind of a conversation do you think they would have? How would they interact with each other if they were complete strangers suddenly smashed together like you have them set up in the picture? If you really get into the ‘minds’ of the materials you will use when shooting, you could come up with some really amazing results for you book. Think about it. Also, I would highly suggest that you get the focus levels on your camera to top notch so that we can see everything in high detail. Good luck! Let me know if you want help at all with this project. :)

I definitely think you should go with the first idea. I think the difference between textures, natural/synthetic colors, etc. is really interesting. My only advice is to take multiple pictures of the subject from different angles and figure out which pics you like best later. And try out all sorts of man made textures against all different sorts of natural environments (rock, water, dirt, trees, plants, etc.)
I believe you should go with your first idea, which you seem to have a more definite feel for. The idea certainly has the potential to be a beautiful and moving peice, just watch for repetitive textures/ objects. The "eyes" idea could make an excellent peice as well. I believe eyes themselves tell a story about a person, so if the photos were spread out among people of different races, ages, or sex, the photos themselves would not need a written story to accompany them. This last idea might be a bit tedious though. I'm sure I will enjoy veiwing either.
